Born and raised in Lake Como, Italy, Chef Fabrizio Giorgi was introduced to the world of flavors and cooking by his Southern Italian mother. At the young age of fourteen, Fabrizio began his journey at his family’s bakery in Valle d’Aosta. Years later, he graduated from the culinary school CFP Como and from there the real work began. He started to work in the 5 star Hotel Castello di Casiglio in the province of Como where he spent two years developing his skills under the critical eye of a French head chef. While there he also cooked for the German soccer team during the 1990 World Cup. His next job was at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano, Switzerland and afterwards he worked with a Michelin star chef in Seregno, Milano.
In 1996 Fabrizio moved to New York City and worked at Palio restaurant, then the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, California, and then Bice in Palm Beach, Florida. In 2006, Fabrizio with his partner Francesco Blanco opened Cafe Sapori. A career that spanned 25 years of cooking with Italian chefs where he honed his culinary skills, combined with the passion for his job, led him to create the concept of what is known today as Cafe Sapori. Through his vast experience and the support of his team, he is able to share with customers his vision of what is the best of authentic and modern Italian cuisine.
On his days off, you can find Fabrizio enjoying time with his wife and two kids. And when season finally culminates, Fabrizio returns to his hometown to recharge and enjoy the incredible beauty of Italy. He enjoys traveling with his family to try new products, dishes, and to replenish his creativity.
